In 1985 AGAG member USA for Africa was part of the celebrity-led fundraising efforts in response to the famine in Ethiopia that garnered unprecedented worldwide news coverage and humanitarian aid. In September 2010 USA for Africa sponsored and organized the symposium “Reflections on International Humanitarian Interventions in Africa” held in Addis Ababa.  Trust Africa, United Nations Economic Commission for Africa and Africa Humanitarian Action also collaborated in organizing this gathering.

The Symposium participants examined the international humaniatarian response in Africa starting from the 1985 famine until now to identify where interventions worked and failed and how to improve responses in the future.

To learn more about the Symposium and download the official report entitled “Reflections on International Humanitarian Interventions in Africa:  Overview of the Symposium Discourse.”
